What Are The Signs That Your Car's Heater Needs To Be Repaired?

The Heater Is Cold

The most obvious symptom that points to an issue with your car’s heater system is that it doesn’t work.

If your car’s heater is blowing cold air when it should be hot, book in for a diagnosis with our team.

It is common for a car’s heater to take a couple minutes to come up to temperature though. If it takes more than a couple minutes of driving, it a sign that the heater needs to be repaired.

There Is A Weird Smell

There should be no strong or weird odours and smells coming from your car’s heater.

If there is, it could point to a problem with one of several components of your car’s heating system.

If you’re smelling a strange, sweet smell and/or experiencing excessive moisture build up in your car then you may have a leaking heater core or another fault within the heating system.

Your Coolant Is Disappearing

You may notice this in a couple of different ways. Your car may be overheating, your coolant levels will continually drop, and/or there may be a smell of chemicals.

These are very strong signs of an issue with your car and it is best to bring it in for a diagnosis. Continued heat stress can severely damage components and shorten their life.

If you experience any of these symptoms, then book your car in for an auto heater diagnosis with our team.

Alternatively, Does Your Car's Cold Air A/C Not Work?

If you’re having the opposite problem and your car’s cold air conditioning isn’t working, it’s still best to book in for a diagnosis and repair.
